The FNI district planning process begins with the district’s curriculum and educational vision. We build on this preliminary visioning work, then engage the district community in a series of workshops and planning sessions that explore how schools can be organized, configured, and designed to support their educational vision. District Master Planning must consider not just school buildings, but also all the assets of a community, including transportation, libraries, recreational centers and higher educational facilities. FNI’s Educational Facilities Effectiveness Instrument is used to assess each school building for 21st century learning, so that considerations for capital expenditures are determined by more than just the physical conditions of a facility; they are evaluated for how well they support 21st century learning pedagogy.
