Examples of open green spaces that unify campuses.

central learning quad as ‘common ground’
Pre-K-12th Grade IB School in Brussels, Belgium for 1400 students. The new campus plan builds on the celebrated traditions of ISB (one of the top IB schools in the world), while adding a new central green that unifies older buildings, new state-of-the art facilities, and the forest.
Located on the opposite side of the Central Learning Quad from the 19th century Chateau, a new Visual and Performing Arts and Innovation Center will set off creative sparks between the solid symmetry of the Chateau and the dynamic movement of the new buildings. Fronting the Quad, a new center for life-long fitness will solidify ISB as one of the top schools athletic centers globally.
The New High School design for 450 students is organized by curriculum themes with their Commons on each floor. A Science Project / Exercise Terrace for Environmental Science studies contributes to a building with a strong connection to the forest that raises ecological awareness in students and teachers.
The double height High School Gathering Atrium with bleacher steps unifies the spaces and represents the Common Ground Curriculum philosophy.
Seven “Career Clusters” are distributed throughout the Commons to provide fluid opportunities for students to explore their future and interact with mentors.
