4th – 6th Grade Small Learning Community: Learning Commons
Learning Environment:
The Café/Commons space forms the heart of each Small Learning Community. The range of activities possible in this space is enormous and includes quiet, solitary activities as well as large, organized community events. Mainly, however, it is like a big lounge room for the community, where you can study at the ‘kitchen table’, play a board game on the floor, film an action scene, bake some cookies or sit on the lounge with a laptop.
Small group studios are ideal for individuals or small groups to withdraw to when their personalized activity is either significantly more noisy or quiet than the dominant activities in the larger spaces
