Our Ideal Candidate:
● Has a Design Portfolio Demonstrating both Creativity and Analytical Skills
● Resides in, or willing to relocate to, the Detroit/Ferndale, Michigan area
● Has a Professional Degree in Architecture or Related Design Field (M.Arch Preferred)
● Has 2 to 6 years of working experience.
● Is a Licensed Architect (preferred) or On-Path to Licensure
● Is Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD and BIM Software such as SketchUp and Revit

Responsibilities:
● Will work as part of a collaborative team to provide planning, design and coordination of educational projects. Domestic and international travel opportunities are provided.
● Actively participate in project team and research discussions regarding the evolution of learning and innovative design
● Make recommendations and consult clients on related project concerns
● Design and prepare deliverables for projects ranging from “Visioning” to “Design Development”
● Assist with material and furniture specifications, interior design and coordination of architectural drawings
● Participate in marketing efforts and client engagement presentations

Associate Designer and Assistant Project Manager | Full-Time – Rhode Island Studio

Fielding Nair International (FNI), a global leader in educational facilities planning and architectural design is looking to add to our Rhode Island Studio Team this Spring. FNI plans and designs school facilities for today and tomorrow with one primary goal in mind — to improve learning. FNI has provided professional services to local, regional and national governments, public school districts, private schools and International Schools and other educational clients in 52 countries on six continents. Our work encompasses, educational planning, campus planning, master planning, professional architectural services through all phases, education planning and professional development, graphic design and production, interior design and even furniture design.

 

Skills and Responsibilities

We are currently looking for architects and intern architects with 3-8 years of solid experience in all aspects of design and planning and a solid skill set in AutoCAD and Revit/BIM. Most of all, we are looking for people with creativity, a good design sense and the ability to work in an intensely collaborative studio environment in teams. We also are looking for people with an experience range from developing conceptual sketches through assembling and detailing construction documents.

 

Qualifications:

  • BS or BFA/BArch; or MArch
  • 3-8 years’ experience in an architectural office environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively both in a team environment with flexibility to switch tasks when required as well as being a self-starter
  • Proficient in the latest versions of both CAD & Revit
  • Note: We utilize the BIM360 Collaboration Software to work with our other consultants and collaborating architects around the world
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop & InDesign), Revit based 3D modeling and rendering programs
  • Solid design skills
  • Project management skills are desired for PM positions
  • Strong analysis and critical thinking skills

JOB TITLE: Associate Architectural Designer

JOB DESCRIPTION: Under supervision of an licensed Architect, assess owner requirements in terms of structural and site constraints, teaching, learning, and spatial needs; coordinate with FNI’s Project Management, Architectural Design, and Interior Design teams to develop projects; develop alternative design concepts with annotations describing the connections between learning and space; manage communications with clients, associate architects, consulting engineers, acoustic consultants, and theater and landscape consultants from various countries through various modes of communication; develop fully annotated Schematic Design documents in 2D and 3D; based on client input, develop approved Schematic Design Documents into fully annotated Design Development documents in 2D and 3D, including ceilings, lighting, acoustical treatments, furnishings, furniture, fixtures, and equipment details; review work by associate architectural firms and provide guidance to make sure that the final implementation is in accordance with FNI’s design intentions. Proficiency with Revit (BIM) systems, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite will be needed.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Under supervision of a licensed Architect, engage in discussions with supervisor to determine functional or spatial requirements of structures; Assess owner requirements in terms of structural and site constraints, teaching, learning and spatial needs; Coordinate with FNI Project Management, Architectural Design and Interior Design team members; Participate in planning and designing projects according to functional and spatial requirements; Produce CAD scale drawings and develop conceptual drawings; Develop CAD drawings through sketch and concept; Develop alternative design concepts with annotations describing the connections between learning and space; Produce and finalize the construction drawings and specifications of material; Produce drawings and determine the schedules and specifications in accordance to design specifications and quantity of required materials; Determine dimensions of materials, as well as their spatial and architectural elements; Prepare presentations and scaled drawings that include design, structural specifications, materials, color, and mechanical information for clients; Use 3D computer software to create or fix 3D architectural model, 3D interior model, and 3D renderings, with the design direction and intent reviewed by the project team; Develop fully annotated Schematic Design documents in 2 and 3-D; Based on client input, develop approved Schematic Design Documents into fully annotated Design Development documents in 2 and 3-d, including ceilings, lighting, acoustical treatments, furnishings, furniture, fixtures and equipment details.
