Nathan’s drive to reinvent education for 21st century learners comes by creating vibrant learning communities that prepare all young people with the skills and mindset to pursue any dream imaginable. Nathan joins FNI as an educational consultant as he continues to teach statistics and integrated math at the International School of Minnesota. Nathan has a decade of experience as a teacher leader in several school settings including traditional district, public charter, and private international. In 2014, Nathan led a small team that won Solution Tree’s Redefining Excellence in the Classroom award for innovation and student achievement; he has also been nominated for Minnesota Teacher of the Year.
Nathan’s achievements as an educator have granted him opportunities to serve on national panels including the Gates Foundation Teacher Advisory Council and Khan Academy Ambassadors, as well as perform design work for start-up schools. He has consulted on behalf of Innovative Quality Schools and has been involved in many initiatives to make schools relevant in a post-industrial age that favors agency, collaborative problem solving, and grit. Nathan has experience and advanced training in designing learning programs, grant writing, strategic planning, and organizational leadership.
Nathan graduated Summa Cum Laude from Augustana University majoring in Mathematics and Secondary Education, and has earned a Nonprofit Management Certificate from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota.
